Prologue

When I step into a landscape, I begin to find my way around. I move closer in my photography and attempt to gain assuredness of myself and the things that are there.

Photography is a mediator. It is a medium – a midpoint – in the truest sense of the word.

The natural landscape as a neutral space disappears over time. Because the landscape has become a familiar “place”. This “place” is the photo series – a chosen sequence of photographs. I forget when and in what geographical context the individual photographs came to be. 

In the transition from “space” to “place” via the “photo”, my works reveal a process of internalisation and are at the same time a photographic trail of arriving and disappearing …
